How to Configure Geofences for Driver Check-In/Out Automation

Written by Ryan Duffy

Summary

Geofences are virtual boundaries that trigger driver check-in/out reminders in the Alvys Mobile App. This is a new tool to help your team capture more accurate check-in/out times — without extra effort from dispatch. Now you can prompt drivers at the right moment and control when those prompts appear.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1: Navigate to Geofence Settings

  1. Log in to the Alvys Admin Portal.

  2. Click on your user avatar in bottom left corner select Company Profile

  3. Select the Subsidiary you'd like to configure.

  4. On the General Info tab, scroll down until you see Geofence Notification.

  5. Locate the Enable Geofence toggle. To turn Geofence ON: Click the toggle to switch it to the ON (enabled) position. To turn Geofence OFF: Click the toggle to switch it to the OFF (disabled) position.

  6. Select the blue pencil icon to configure.

Step 2: Set the Default Radius

  1. In the configuration panel, set the default geofence radius in feet.

    • Recommended starting value: 500 feet.

  2. Click Activate to apply the changes.

Step 3: Verify Mobile Notifications

Drivers using the Alvys Mobile App will now receive push notifications to check in/out when they enter or exit the configured geofence.

  • The defined radius will trigger a "Time to Check In" notification to a driver using the latest version of the Alvys mobile app.

  • Once the driver has entered the defined radius, they will receive a notification, "Did you arrive?".

  • If the driver doesn’t check-in within 15 minutes, they will receive another notification “Missing Check In”.

ℹ️ Since this is a mobile app feature, drivers will have to be on the latest version of the app to utilize this functionality. There is nothing Alvys can do to force drivers to do this update.
