The Samsara integration connects your ELD and telematics data to Alvys, enabling real-time location tracking, Hours of Service monitoring, IFTA reporting, and temperature sensor data for refrigerated trailers. Before setting up the integration, make sure your subsidiaries are configured in Alvys.

In Samsara, navigate to Settings and find the tab Apps. In the list of Apps, find Alvys and click on the card. Then you will need to click Enable:

You will be asked to accept the Samsara Data Import and Sharing Addendum terms in order to generate the Token:

The next window will give you the token that you will need to enter in Alvys on the next steps.

Navigate to Integrations and find Samsara under the ELD tab. Click the blue Integrate button to open the Add Integration window. Use the drop-down menu to find and select Samsara, then copy and paste the API token from Samsara into the API Key field.

Select which subsidiaries Samsara will be used for. If it will be used for all subsidiaries, select the checkbox for All Subsidiaries. Click the blue Save button.

Before beginning this step, you'll need to have your trucks and trailers set up in the Alvys system.

Find the Assets option in the left menu and select either trucks or trailers depending on what you need to set up. From the list of assets, find and double click the particular asset you are ready to assign. This will open the Edit Asset page.

On the asset page, scroll down to find the ELD Integrations section and click the blue Add Integration button. In the Add Integration window, click the drop-down menu and select Samsara.

Next, find the Samsara asset ID, which can be found in the hyperlink of the asset when viewing it within Samsara. For example, in the URL https://cloud.samsara.com/o/25542/devices/281474978231471/vehicle`, only use the highlighted portion: 281474978231471.

Paste the ID into the Integration ID field in the Add Integration window.

For trailers, only fill in the Asset ID. Sensor ID should be left blank. Once you type in your Asset ID, our system will connect all associated external sensors, including temperature and door sensors.

Click the blue Save button and repeat these steps for the rest of your Samsara trucks and trailers.

Q: What happens if I don't enable all the granular scope permissions?

A: ELD data from Samsara will not flow into Alvys. Make sure all required permissions are enabled when generating your API token.

Q: Do I need to create a new token if I need to add Sensors: Write permission?

A: No, you can edit your existing token to add the permission. The token value will remain the same.

Q: How do I find my Samsara asset IDs for trailers with temperature sensors?

A: The asset ID is in the URL when viewing the trailer in Samsara. Once added to Alvys, all associated sensors will automatically connect.
