Overview
The Asset Map gives you a real-time, bird's-eye view of your entire fleet β every truck, trailer, and trip β on a single interactive map. Use it to locate assets instantly, check statuses without switching screens, and make faster dispatch and routing decisions.
To open the Asset Map, go to Assets > Map in the side navigation.
π‘ The Asset Map is available to all Alvys tenants at no additional cost. There is nothing to enable or purchase β it's already in your account.
Navigating the Map
When you open the Asset Map, you'll see all of your fleet assets plotted on the map. Each asset type has a distinct icon so you can identify them at a glance:
Trucks β Blue squares
Trailers β Red dots
Trips β Green triangles
You can zoom in and out using the scroll wheel or the + / β controls on the map. Click and drag to pan around the map.
π‘ When you're zoomed out and many assets are close together, the map automatically groups them into clusters. Zoom in or click a cluster to expand it and see individual assets. You can toggle clustering on or off using the Clustering control.
Filtering and Searching
Use the controls at the top of the map to narrow down what you see:
Asset type filter β Show All, Trucks only, or Trailers only.
Asset status filter β Show All, Active only, or Inactive only.
Clustering toggle β Turn automatic clustering on or off.
Traffic toggle β Overlay real-time traffic conditions on the map.
Map style β Switch between Default (street) and Satellite views.
To find a specific asset, driver, trip, or location, use the Search bar at the top of the map. Type a truck number, trailer ID, driver name, trip ID, or address to jump directly to it.
Viewing Asset Details
Click on any asset to open its sidebar with detailed information β no need to navigate away from the map.
Truck Sidebar
When you click a truck (blue square), the sidebar shows:
Truck ID and current status
Overview β Source, operating status, fuel level, odometer, ELD ID, current address, last modified timestamp, and assignment preference
Notes β Any notes attached to the truck
Events β Recent events for that truck
Click the Edit button in the sidebar to open the full truck profile if you need to make changes.
Trailer Sidebar
When you click a trailer (red dot), the sidebar shows:
Trailer name/ID and current status
Overview β Source, operating status, power status, ambient temperature, ELD ID, current address, and last modified timestamp
Notes β Any notes attached to the trailer
Events β Recent events for that trailer
Click the Edit button in the sidebar to open the full trailer profile.
Trip Interaction
When you click a trip (green triangle), the map shows the truck sidebar along with a View Trip button. Click View Trip to render the trip route on the map and see trip-specific details in the sidebar.
π‘ There is also an updated map on the Load Details page that displays the route for a specific load. This is a simpler, display-only view β the full Asset Map under Assets > Map is where you get the complete interactive experience.
Right-Click Tools
Right-click anywhere on the map to access a set of quick tools:
Copy coordinates β Copy the latitude and longitude of that point to your clipboard.
Center here β Re-center the map on the point you clicked.
Measure driving distance β Calculate the driving distance between two points on the map.
Open in Google Maps β Open that location in Google Maps in a new tab for directions or street view.
Tips and Tricks
Use search to jump fast. Instead of scrolling and zooming, type a truck number, driver name, or city in the search bar to jump directly to that asset or location.
Toggle traffic for route planning. Turn on the traffic overlay to see congestion before assigning loads or rerouting drivers.
Switch to satellite view. Satellite view can help you identify yards, terminals, and delivery sites when the street map isn't enough context.
Measure driving distance. Right-click two points on the map to quickly estimate drive time between a truck and a pickup β no need to open a separate mapping tool.
Use clustering for large fleets. If you have hundreds of assets, keep clustering on when zoomed out. Zoom in to a specific region to see individual assets.
Check "Last Modified" for data freshness. The sidebar shows when each asset's position was last updated so you know how current the location data is.
β οΈ Asset positions are updated based on your ELD data feed. If an asset shows a stale position, check that the ELD device is connected and transmitting. The Last Modified timestamp in the sidebar tells you when the position was last received.
FAQs
How do I access the Asset Map?
Go to Assets > Map in the side navigation. The map loads with all of your fleet assets plotted automatically.
Is the Asset Map an add-on? Do I need to pay extra?
No. The Asset Map is included for all Alvys tenants at no additional cost. There is nothing to purchase or enable.
What do the different icons mean?
Blue squares are trucks, red dots are trailers, and green triangles are trips.
Why do I see numbered circles instead of individual assets?
Those are clusters β the map groups nearby assets together when you're zoomed out. Zoom in or click a cluster to see individual assets. You can also toggle clustering off.
Why does an asset show an old location?
Asset positions depend on your ELD data feed. Check the Last Modified timestamp in the sidebar. If the timestamp is stale, verify that the ELD device on that asset is connected and transmitting.
Can I filter to see only active trucks?
Yes. Use the asset type filter to select Trucks and the status filter to select Active.
Can I see the route for a trip?
Yes. Click on a trip (green triangle) and then click View Trip to render the route on the map.
Will weather be available on the map?
A weather radar overlay is planned for a future update. It is not part of the initial launch.
