Locking and Unlocking Loads for Editing

How the Lock Load functionality works

Written by Kelly Horton-Poxton

Locking and Unlocking Loads for Editing

The Lock Load feature on the Load Details Page allows you to temporarily secure a load, preventing other users from making changes while you are actively working on it. This ensures data integrity and prevents accidental overwrites during collaborative load management.

User Roles with Access: All users who have access to the Load Details Page and can edit loads.

Summary: When activated, the Lock Load feature places a temporary exclusive editing privilege on a specific load. Only the user who locked the load can make modifications. A visual "Locked for Editing" tag appears to inform other users of its status. The lock can be easily toggled on and off as needed.

How to Lock a Load for Editing

Follow these steps to lock a load and prevent others from making changes:

  1. Open the Load Details Page:

    • Navigate to and open the specific load you want to lock for editing.

  2. Locate the Lock Icon:

    • In the upper right-hand corner of the Load Details Page header, you will find a lock icon (๐Ÿ”’). This icon functions as a button.

    • When you hover over the icon, a tooltip will appear, stating "Lock Load."

  3. Click the Lock Icon:

    • Click the lock icon.

    • A confirmation dialog box will appear, asking, "Are you sure? Only you will be able to make changes to the load."

  4. Confirm Lock Action:

    • Click "Yes" to confirm.

  5. Verify Locked Status:

    • After confirmation, a "Locked for Editing" tag will appear directly underneath where the trip status is shown (e.g., under "Open"). This visually indicates that the load is now locked by you.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What happens if I try to edit a load that another user has locked? A: If another user has locked a load, you will not be able to make changes to it. You will see the "Locked for Editing" tag, and editing fields or buttons will be disabled.

Q: Will the load automatically unlock if I navigate away from the page or log out? A: No, the load does not automatically unlock. You must manually click the lock icon again to release the lock, even if you navigate away from the page or log out. This ensures intentional control over who can edit the load.
