Note: The old SOAP API version (Orbcomm Cargowatch) is no longer supported. Only the new RESTful API integration (Orbcomm Platform) is available.

Orbcomm Platform provides telematics solutions for tracking location and temperature data. This integration allows Alvys to automatically pull location and temperature information from your Orbcomm-equipped assets, giving you live visibility on the Asset Map and in dispatch planning.

To get started, you'll need API credentials from Orbcomm, then configure the integration in Alvys and map your assets.

Before you can connect Orbcomm Platform to Alvys, you'll need to request API credentials from Orbcomm.

Reach out to your Orbcomm Customer Success Manager and request them to submit an API integration request on your behalf. Provide all necessary information to facilitate this process.

The Orbcomm Customer Success Manager will work with you to gather required details and submit the integration request through their ticketing system.

Once Orbcomm completes the setup, they'll provide you with two pieces of information:

Once you have your credentials, you're ready to configure Orbcomm Platform in Alvys.

Navigate to Company Profile by clicking your profile icon in the lower left corner, then select the subsidiary you want to configure and click the Integrations tab.

Expand the ELD section and click the pencil icon on the Orbcomm Platform card.

Enter your Orbcomm Platform Username, Password, select the Subsidiaries whose assets will be using this integration, then click Save.

Alvys will validate your credentials. If everything looks good, the integration will be active.

Now that the integration is configured, you need to tell Alvys which Orbcomm Asset ID corresponds to each truck or trailer.

Go to Assets in the left menu and select Trucks or Trailers.

Double-click the asset you want to configure, then scroll down to the ELD Integrations section and click Add Integration.

Select OrbcommPlatform from the dropdown, enter the Orbcomm Asset ID in the Integration ID field, and click Save.

Repeat this process for each truck or trailer you want to track with Orbcomm Platform.

What happened to Orbcomm Cargowatch?

The old SOAP API version (Orbcomm Cargowatch) is no longer supported. All customers should migrate to the new Orbcomm Platform integration.

Where do I find my Orbcomm Asset IDs?

Your Orbcomm Asset IDs should be available in your Orbcomm portal, or you can request them from your Orbcomm Customer Success Manager.

What happens if I enter invalid credentials?

As of February 2025, Alvys validates credentials before saving, so you'll see an error immediately if your credentials are incorrect.
