Overview

Automate carrier compliance and monitoring with the Highway integration. Connect your Highway account to Alvys and instantly check carrier compliance status, automatically import carriers as they complete onboarding, and receive real-time updates on status changes—all without leaving your TMS.

Request Your Highway Credentials

Before setting up the integration in Alvys, reach out to your Highway representative and request an Alvys integration key. If you were previously using Highway with another TMS, make sure to revoke that connection first to prevent any conflicts.

Once your Highway contact confirms the setup is complete, all your previously onboarded carriers will automatically sync into Alvys.

Connect Highway in Alvys

Head to the Integrations section by clicking your profile in the bottom left corner and selecting Integrations. Look for Highway under Carrier Compliance and click to open the configuration.

Enter the API key provided by your Highway contact, then choose which subsidiaries you want to apply the integration to. The system will validate your API key automatically. If there's an issue with your credentials, you'll see a banner prompting you to double-check them.

How the Integration Works

Automatic Synchronization

Alvys syncs with Highway every five minutes to keep your carrier data current. When carriers complete onboarding in Highway, they're automatically created in Alvys, eliminating manual entry entirely.

It's strongly recommended that you avoid adding carriers directly in Alvys, since those carriers won't be monitored by Highway for compliance updates.

Real-Time Updates

The integration pulls in updates to existing carriers as they happen, including insurance changes, address updates, and compliance status modifications. This ensures you always have the latest, most accurate carrier information at your fingertips.

Understanding Carrier Status

Status Types

Each carrier in Highway is assigned a status that reflects their compliance standing. These statuses are reflected in Alvys:

Pass means the carrier meets all compliance requirements and can be assigned to loads normally. Partial Pass indicates the carrier meets some but not all requirements and can still be assigned. Incomplete means the carrier hasn't completed all required documentation and will be blocked from assignment. Fail means the carrier doesn't meet compliance requirements and is also blocked from assignment.

Load Assignment Rules

When you try to assign a carrier to a load, the Highway status determines whether the assignment can proceed. Carriers with Pass or Partial Pass status can be assigned without any issues. Carriers with Incomplete or Fail status will be blocked from assignment by default. However, if you have Override Carrier permissions enabled, you can proceed with the assignment at your discretion.
